Holistic, whole organisation, approach to finance
My approach to finance is as an enabler, for the vision and purpose of an organisation and its people. A finance budget is only brought to life, through the people of the organisation. By listening and communicating with others, finance is brought into, and supportive of, the wider teams and aims of the organisation. By communicating financial information that informs each stakeholder, in a level of detail and format, that’s relatable and relevant to them.
Connector of ideas and people, in strategy and planning
With a love for environments exploring new opportunities for development, especially the people dynamics within them, I’m naturally a creative reformer. Problem solving by seeing clarity in the noise of change, an eye for detail and an overview of the bigger picture. By collaborating with others, to deliver innovative strategic plans, with a keen focus on bringing along the people who will deliver the plan.
Experienced finance director
With 20 years as an accountant, 15 at a senior level, I’ve amassed an experienced and hands-on understanding of commercial and financial management. Within tech, retail, PR and events organisations, I’ve had responsibility for finance, IT, HR and operations.
As the finance director in a PR agency, and as the founder of a sports retail chain, in both roles it was key, to ensure the commercial elements continue to be customer-focused, innovative, and profitable, and in tune with the overall purpose.
As a finance director in organisations with external investor stakeholders, I’ve gained a mindset that seeks external collaboration, using problems solving skills to consider each stakeholders perspective, to see where motivations align to the benefit of everyone.
